Join The Seeing Eye on #GivingTuesday

The Seeing Eye is participating in #GivingTuesday to help support two Seeing Eye dogs. Read about Gale and Hero, and learn how you can help this Morristown based non-profit.

The Seeing Eye, non-profit based in Morristown, has joined #Giving Tuesday, a national day of giving on Tuesday, December 3 – the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. In response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which are synonymous with holiday shopping, #GivingTuesday is meant to harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays dedicated to giving.

The Seeing Eye has joined #GivingTuesday for the second year in a row, hoping to spread awareness about the important services it provides to people who are blind and visually impaired through the use of Seeing Eye® dogs. Last year, with support from friends and supporters, The Seeing Eye raised enough money to feed two litters of puppies born by flashlight in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy. Two of those puppies were named Hero and Gale by Seeing Eye followers on Facebook and Twitter.

This year, The Seeing Eye hopes to raise $10,000, which represents a portion of the cost to train Gale and Hero before they can be matched with their new owners. Supporters can receive updates and learn how they can continue to support Hero, Gale and the rest of the dogs who are specially bred, raised and trained at The Seeing Eye, by visiting The Seeing Eye’s #GivingTuesday Page on Razoo.com. Follow the play by play all day on Tuesday, Dec. 3 on Twitter and Facebook by tuning into Twitter.com/SeeingEyeinc or Facebook.com/SeeingEye.

Established in 1929, The Seeing Eye provides specially bred and trained dogs to guide people who are blind. Seeing Eye® dog users experience greatly enhanced mobility and independence, allowing them to retain their active lifestyles despite blindness. The Seeing Eye is a philanthropy supported by contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations, bequests, and other planned gifts.
