Robert Padian was Morristown through and through.
The lifelong resident died recently at the age of 86.
Padian graduated Morristown High School in 1945 and joined the United States Army where he served for two years, according to his obituary.
Padian co-owned Joe & Robert’s Butcher Shop on South Street in Morristown, worked with Coutts Home Improvements, and worked as a crossing guard at Early and Mills Streets in Morristown over the next several decades.
Padian also worked at the Foster’s Market in Morristown for more than 25 years.
But his longest commitment was his 59-year membership to the Independent Hose Company of the Town of Morristown. During his tenure he was awarded the Mayor’s Medal for Heroic Action for the rescue of two elderly women from a burning building on Maple Avenue.
He is survived by a son and daughter and two grandchildren. Padian is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Ruth.
