Warmest March on Record; Fine By You?

Or, do these anomalies have you concerned?

It was a warm one in March. But, don't just take our word for it.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has released its March 2012 National Overview report citing, among other findings, the average temperature across the U.S. was 8.6 degrees above the 20th century average.

"Every state in the nation experienced at least one record warm daily temperature in March, totaling 15,272 warm temperature records broken," according to an AccuWeather.com article. "The Northeast had its warmest March in 118 years this year, averaging 44.4 degrees F, 9.8 degrees above the average for the region."

Do you mind? Do you think it's fine to have the occasional warm spell, even in the winter? Or, does this have you a little concerned?

This mild winter and spring season completely make up for the brutal winter we had the year prior. That year, it was bitterly cold for months and months and it snowed about 75 feet every two days. (By my estimate). We deserve this beautiful season.

I am extremely concerned about how the warm winter and lack of precipitation is going to effect the environment this summer. The soil is already dried out and normally it is too wet to work until the end of April so I worry about an early drought. The lack of a long freeze did not kill weed seeds, harmful bacteria in the soil, or insects and that will lead to infestations and plant disease. Sometimes people need to look at the big picture and not just their personal comfort.

We have enough water saved from last year. We are all good dude. Get to the beach and enjoy life.

Too many people want to just "enjoy life" and not think of the longterm consequences, especially to the world in general. All this sunshine and warm temperatures was a relief from last year, but that doesn't make going to the other extreme any better.

Climate change has happened through out the history of the Earth. I'm just saying do the best you can "in reason" to help the earth and enjoy life.
