$1,000 Reward for Help With Trailer Theft Case

Taken from parking lot on Littleton Road

The Morris County CrimeStoppers group is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for help finding whoever stole a trailer and construction equipment from 201 Littleron Road.

Morris Plains police say they were notified of the theft April 9. When they arrived, the owner of a yellow Trailmaster trailer and a Kabota excavator said he'd parked the equipment in the rear lot of the office building there on April 6, according to a statement from police. But when the owner returned, according to the statement, the equipment had gone missing.

Patrols couldn't find the equipment in the surrounding area, but video surveillance from a nearby office building showed a light-colored pickup truck had been scouting the area, police said.

Then, at about 8 p.m. on April 7, a dark-colored pickup truck returned to the area and took the equipment, police said. Police have provided a copy of that video surveillance to Patch, and it is included with this post.

Police believe the pickup truck may have been a Ford, but they're still working to enhance images from the video. They're searching for a black Ford four-door pick up truck with clearance lights on top of the truck and lights on the side-view mirror.

Images of such a Ford included on this post have been provided by police for illustrative purposes, but are not images of the actual truck believed involved in the theft.

The equipment has been valued at $35,000, police said.
