Candy and cash were stolen from the snack bars at two township pools Sunday night, according to the police.
Acting Chief of the John McGuinness said after both pools closed after 8 p.m., $90 worth of candy was stolen from , and candy and up to $1,000 in cash at Stardust Pool.
McGuinness said that while the incidents are similar, it has not yet been determined if they are connected. The investigation remains ongoing and the police are processing fingerprints, McGuinness said.
If it was the same person, McGuinness pointed out, they were most likely driving because Ginty Pool, located on the eastern side of town on Fanok Road is far from Stardust located on the western side on Raynor Road.
"It's not really a walking distance or even a biking distance for a teenager," McGuinness said.
McGuinness said there haven't been many burglary incidents at the pools in the past few years, and this is the first break-in at both pools this summer.
"Periodically, we do have problems with the pools, but the last couple of years it's been very, very good," he said.
There have been several in the township by the so-called "AC Bandit" who has been gaining entry to homes by pushing in first-floor air conditioning units.
McGuinness said at one point both pools did have alarms, but they are no longer in use. The police are now patrolling the areas to keep an extra eye out, he said.
