Car Crashes into Train, Closes E. Hanover Ave.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Morris Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

East Hanover Avenue was shut down for 45 minutes and a driver was hurt when she crashed her car into a train in Morris Township Tuesday morning, police said.

Driver Eulena Horne of Mt. Arlington, 51, was taken to with minor injuries after the 10 a.m. crash, Morris Township Capt. Rich Ferrone said. She was charged with careless driving.

Police shut down East Hanover Avenue at Ridgedale Avenue while they investigated the crash. They determined Horne's 2007 Volkswagon Passat struck the caboose of a train as it crossed East Hanover Avenue, Ferrone said. The caboose was being pushed through the intersection by an engine operated by the Morristown and Erie Railway of Morristown, he said.

The rail crossing is not controlled by gates, but its flashing lights and sounding bells were working, as was the train's horn, Ferrone said.
