Cops: 18-Year-Old Man Had Sex With 14-Year-Old Girl

An 18-year-old Morris Plains man is facing charges after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Duvan Camillo Agudelo of Stiles Avenue has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. 

An affidavit signed by Detective Marshall Wang of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit does not allege Agudelo physically forced the girl into sexual intercourse. But it states Agudelo is more than four years older than the girl, and that they both acknowledged a single encounter involving sexual intercourse that took place at Agudelo's home.

In New Jersey, the standard age of consent is 16. Minors younger than 16 can only legally consent to sexual activity with someone who is less than four years older.

The investigation was conducted by Wang along with Morris Plains Detective Bruce Rapp, according to a statement by the prosecutor's office.

Bail was set at $50,000 with no 10 percent option. Agudelo was barred from having contact with the girl and with and children under the age of 16 by Judge Stephan C. Hansbury.
