Cops: Man Sexually Assaulted 7-Year-Old Girl

An East Hanover man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl at the child's home in Randolph.

Ernest Bayot, 37, was arrested Wednesday after an investigation by Randolph police, according to a statement from the Morris County Prosecutor's office. Bayot has been charged with one count of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to the prosecutor's office.

A witness first told Randolph police on Aug. 28 that the child had disclosed incidents of sexual contact with Bayot, according to an affidavit signed by Detective Marshall Wang of the Randolph Police. Wang interviewed the child, who said that on two occasions, Bayot touched her genital area over her clothes, the affidavit states.

But when Wang and Sgt. Jeffrey Gomez interviewed Bayot on Wednesday, Bayot also admitted to other encounters, Wang said in the affidavit. It alleges Bayot admitted performing oral sex on the child, and that he had her "ride him" while clothed.

Superior Court Judge Catherine Enright set Bayot's bail at $200,000 cash, bond or property, with no 10 percent option, the prosecutor's office said. The judge also ordered that Bayot is to be prohibitted from having contact with the alleged victim, and may have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16, the prosecutor's office said.
