Cops: Morris Plains Man Drove Drunk

Man stopped after failing to stay in lane, police said.

A Morris Plains man was arrested July 17 on charges of driving while intoxicated after, police said, an officer noticed he was not keeping within his lane.

According to Capt. Rich Ferrone of the Morris Township Police Department, it was just after 2 a.m. when Ptl. Chris Tongring stopped a silver Acura driven by David Shankowski, 29.

Shankowski was found to be impaired, and was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to keep right and interfering with the passage of vehicles, police said. He was released pending a future court date.
