Cops: Teens Caused Major Damage With Graffiti

Vandalism throughout Morris Plains, Dover estimated to have a price tag in the thousands.

Police have arrested three teens they say caused thousands of dollars of damage, spraying graffiti throughout Morris Plains and Dover.

Police departments from the two municipalities worked together on the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of three 17-year-old males, Morris Plains Detective Bruce M. Rapp said.

The teens had tagged dozens of buildings with "street names"—hitting the , a train underpass, a parking garage located at 40 East Hanover Ave. and the property at 520 Speedwell Ave., among other locations, Rapp said.

They were caught when Dover police received a tip, Rapp said. The teens admitted their role in the graffiti during interviews, he said.

Rapp and Detective Sgt. Jason Kohn and Det. Rapp concluded the investigation for Morris Plains. The juveniles were charged with more than 30 counts of criminal mischief and conspiracy in the damage. The juveniles were processed by detectives before being released to their parents pending a hearing in the family court division of Superior Court, Rapp said.
