Heavily traveled roads across Morris County will be patrolled between Monday, Dec. 12 and Friday, Dec. 18 under a county “Driving While Intoxicated Patrols and Checkpoints.”
The Morris County Police Chief’s Association and all of the police agencies in the county are cooperating on the initiative.

Police will patrol and set up checkpoints on roads with high incidents of arrests or crashes involving intoxicated drivers. More than 50 police officers will participate.
The police chief’s association hopes drivers will heed their advice not to drink and drive, especially during the holiday season.

Most of the staffing for these details will be covered by grant funding under New Jersey Highway Traffic Safety’s “Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over” Grant which began on Monday, Dec. 5 and runs through Monday, Jan. 2, according to a press release issued by Chief Christopher Wagner of the Denville Township Police Department.
