Gas Line Broken on Bailey Hollow, Police Said

Broken line likely not to cause traffic problems as road was already closed off, according to police.

Morris Township Police said a gas line break during Thursday afternoon was going to likely take a while to be fixed.

A strong scent of natural gas could be detected about a mile down Mt. Kemble Avenue, although the scent had dissapated at the place of the accident, which occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Police were on the scene and the situation had been contained, Officer Victor Galardo said.

PSE&G crews quickly arrived to fix the break, police said. It was not known, however, how long the repair work would take. But, it likely would not affect traffic as Bailey Hollow Road is not a main artery and traffic already was limited because of the ongoing repairs, police said.
