Greystone Police Officer Hit Patient With Baton, Prosecutor Says

Jamal Hogan suspended from job, could face probation, according to report.

A former police officer at the Greystone psychiatric facility in Parsippany is facing assault charges after Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Weber said he hit a patient with his baton, according to The Star-Ledger.

Jamal Hogan, 40, of East Orange, was suspended from his job and could face probation in lieu of jail time if convicted of the charges, but he would be forced to forfeit public employment and pension, the Ledger reported. However, Hogan rejected the prosecutor's initial plea offer in Superior Court on Tuesday, according to the newspaper.

If Hogan does not accept the plea offer within the next two weeks, the case will go to a grand jury for possible indictment, the Star-Ledger reported.
