Morristown police found a man with a gunshot wound to his leg on Lincoln Street Friday afternoon, but authorities have yet to file charges in the incident.
Police responded to an incident on Lincoln Street after a 911 call was made at 5:20 p.m., Acting Morris County Prosecutor Frederic Knapp said. The victim was not identified.
According to police dispatch calls made during the time of the incident, an original report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian was made to the Morris County dispatch center, and that there was "severe bleeding to the leg."
The incident is ongoing and not considered to be random, Knapp said, and there is no current danger to the community as a result.
The victim was inside a car when the incident took place, according to MorristownGreen.com. A vehicle with front-end damage was on the sidewalk near a home on Lincoln Street when police arrived, the report said.
Because the investigation is ongoing, no further details are being released.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Morristown Police Department and Morris Township Police Department all assisted at the scene.
