Morris Plains Businesses Scammed by Fake JCP&L Callers, say Police

JCP&L is not making these calls and those that receive these scam calls should call up JCP&L first

Recently there have been reports of area businesses being scammed over the phone.

"Over the past few days we have had several business scammed by phone caller claiming to be from JCP&L that there account was past due and payment must be made immediately. However, the only way to make the payment was by a “cash card," said Jason Kohn, Morris Plains Police Detective Sergeant, adding that these cards are available at stores like 7-11 and Quick Chek, etc…

"I would like to warn residents and business owners that JCP&L is not making these calls and does not operate this way," he added. "I spoke with JCP&L and they advised that they be called first if there is ever any question with your account."
