DWI Patrols Increase in Morris Township

Police warn of the dangers of 'Black Wednesday.'

The increased threat of DWI incidents over the holiday weekend has prompted the Morris Township Police to increase their DWI patrols, according to Capt. Richard Ferrone.

"This week the holiday season kicks off. With family and friends returning home, Thanksgiving Eve, sometimes referred to as 'Black Wednesday', is unofficially considered the busiest bar night of the year," Ferrone said. "This means it’s also the biggest night of the year for drunk driving. Combined with the most traveled holiday period of the year and what is expected to be some pretty nasty weather you’re looking at a deadly mix."

Ferrone said that the Morris Township Police Department wants everyone to have a safe and happy holiday, but they aren't leaving it solely in the hands of the public.
