Cops: Morris Township Woman Resists Wee-Hours Arrest

20-year old fights handcuffing by officer, police said.

A Morris Township woman tried to fight off a handcuffing by police after she was found to have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in Morris Township Court, police said.

According to Capt. Rich Ferrone, the incident occurred at 3:20 a.m. on Saturday morning, when Ptl. Victor Gallardo found Sanaa’a Smith, 20, of Morris Township walking on W. Hanover Ave. After it was determined that Smith had an outstanding $250 warrant for failing to appear in Morris Township Court, she resisted the officer's attempt to handcuff her, Ferrone said.

According to Ferrone, Ptl. Chris Tongring assisted in the arrest and Smith was taken into custody without further incident. She was charged with contempt of court and resisting arrest, police said. Smith reportedly posted bail on the outstanding warrant and was released pending an appearance in municipal court.
