With 23 teams and 124 participants, Relay for Life Morristown raised $37,047.76 this past Saturday.

Contributing toward that total was the Morris Township PBA Local 133, "a union comprised of police officers that are constantly protecting and giving back to our community," said Heather Jones, president of Morris Twp PBA 133 in this Patch blog.

Local 133 raised $1,520, beating their goal of $1,000.

All the money raised was donated to The American Cancer Society on behalf of Hugh Sutherland, who recently passed and was the father of one of Local 133's detectives.

"We had a total of 19 people walking for our team. One group within ours walked a total of 13 miles," said Jones. "It was an incredible event and we cannot wait to participate again next year."
