Think of it this way: the Halloween season's been extended.
Denville police are suggesting residents keep their kids home Monday night, and postpone trick-or-treating until Friday, as dangerous road conditions, downed trees and downed power lines remain a hazard following the weekend's storm.
"Everyone is encouraged to stay inside this evening where it is safe," Chief Christopher Wagner said in a message via the Nixle emergency notification service.
Wagner said JCP&L has still not been able to provide a specific estimate as to when power will be restored throughout Denville.
Residents of nearby towns such as Parsippany, Morris Township and Morris Plains should heed the warning about trick-or-treating in Denville neighborhoods as well.
But if your kid is already decked out in his or her Halloween costume, don't forget, he or she could win $1,031 and a chance to meet Heidi Klum. .
