Man wanted in several crimes.

Police are searching for a man suspected of several thefts in the area.

The man is suspected of taking credit cards from unattended pocketbooks at businesses along Madison Avenue in Morris Township and in Morristown, according to a statement from Capt. Rich Ferrone of the

On Sept. 26, after taking a wallet, the man was seen trying to make several purchases in the Florham Park area, Ferrone said. On Sept. 29, after taking another wallet, the man was seen making purchases in the Morris Plains area, Ferrone said.

The man is also suspected in a similar theft in Milburn, police said. He usually tries to purchase large quantities of Newport-brand cigarettes before the cards are discovered missing, Ferrone said.

The man is described as tall (between 6 feet, 2 inches and 6 feet, 7 inches), thin, black and bald. Surveillance information suggests he always wears a grey sweatshirt, khaki pants and a Yankees hat, Ferrone said.
