Raynor Road Home Destroyed By Fire

Blaze started in the garage.

Fire destroyed a home at 47 Raynor Road in Morris Township in the early hours of March 14. Four people were at the home at the time of the blaze, but all escaped unharmed.

According to Chief Scott Lovenberg of the Morris Township Fire Department, a report of a garage fire at the residence came in at about 12:05 a.m. "When we arrived, there was a heavy volume of fire in the garage and extending up the exterior of the house," he said.

Although the fire department made an aggressive attempt to attack the interior fire, Lovenberg said they were forced back by the volume of the fire and concerns about the structural integrity of the building.

The fire was brought under control within about 45 minutes, Lovenberg said, but the department was on the scene until about 4:30 a.m. dousing hot-spots and checking ceilings and other areas for hidden fires.

The home is now uninhabitable. "There is structural damage, along with extensive smoke and water damage," Lovenberg said.
