UPDATE: Roads Open Tuesday A.M. After Motor Vehicle Accident Takes Out Pole
Westbound traffic backed up for hours, no power outages reported.
Westbound lanes of Route 10 were opened Tuesday morning at 7:45 a.m., after a motor vehicle accident Monday snapped a pole on Route 10 near Manor Lane in Parsippany, near the Morris Plains border, slowing traffic for hours.
According to Parsippany Lt. Tom Carney, a Wharton man was heading westbound when he veered off the roadway and struck the utility pole at about 6:45 p.m.
Carney said the driver, Hector Lagos, 58, is a diabetic and may have passed out while behind the wheel. Lagos was not injured and did not receive any summonses, Carney said.

According to Carney, two of the three westbound lanes in the area remained closed Monday night at about 11 p.m. The accident snapped the pole, but the lines remained intact and no power was lost, Carney said.
Carney said crews from JCP&L expected to work through the night to repair the damage.

Traffic had subsided by the late-night hours, but was backed up as far as Interstate 287 earlier in the evening, Carney said.
