Twp. Police, Honeywell Spruce Up 'The Nabe'

Refurbishing funded by $11,000 Honeywell grant.

On Friday and Saturday, volunteers from the Honeywell Corporation, in cooperation with the Morris Township Police Department, will be making improvements to the Neighborhood House in Morristown.

“We’re especially grateful to Honeywell for partnering with us and sponsoring a ‘Rebuilding Together’ project on the site," said Police Chief Dennis Reilly.  "Thanks to Honeywell’s generous ($11,000) grant, we’ll be able to remodel the building’s lobby, install a new swing set and playhouse, put in a new roof for outdoor space, build bookcases for the facility’s library, create a vegetable garden, repair the surrounding fence, and refurbish the facility with fresh paint."

The Neighborhood House offers a range of programming for young people, including preschool, after-school programs, and recreational activities. On any given day, the Neighborhood House supports an average of 1,500 children and adults in Morris County.

“Supporting organizations such as the Morristown Neighborhood House has always been a priority of the Morris Township Police Department," Reilly said. For years, we’ve taken great pride in supporting organizations that provide so much to the young people in our community.  In recent years we donated a vehicle to the Neighborhood House, whose programs, from pre-school to after-school and recreational to vocational, provide a safe, educational outlet for our community’s young people."

Honeywell has invested over $1 million in Rebuilding Together, preserving and revitalizing houses and communities. This is its seventh local project, with previous efforts including five projects in Morristown at Mt. Kemble Home for Retirees and one in Morris Township at Morris Minutemen First Aid Squad.
