If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.

That’s what Governor Chris Christie is doing with his second nomination of Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp to become the fulltime top cop in Morris County.

According to dailyrecord.com, Christie has again nominated Knapp for the position, two years after his first attempt, which was halted by Senate Democrats.

The appointment comes with a five-year term and $165,000 annual salary.

Knapp took over the role in Dec. 2012 after former Prosecutor Robert Bianchi left office.

Knapp never received a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing but his appointment was still rejected by Senate Democrats just eight days after coming on in an acting capacity, the report said.

The next judiciary committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 9, but Knapp is not on the list for consideration that day, the report said. The following meeting is scheduled for June 19.
