For the Township, Sisler and Rosenbush, both incumbents, believe cutting taxes and maintaining services are among the most important issues in the township.

"People are concerned about property taxes, especially in this economy," Sisler told Patch last month. "We need to keep our budgets trimmed and slim but at the same time make sure that the services that are provided by the township are as pristine as they can be."

Rosenbush said that keeping services, such as the paid and volunteer fire departments, the full recreational services, and the DPW are vital in addition to keeping spending down.

Democrats Ron Goldberg, who has served on the Township Committee for one term before, and Noel Robinson believe keeping traffic down and making the township more of rural community are important points to focus on.

Goldberg said roads are becoming more crowded, as there have been more expansions of buildings recently.

"Morris Township is a town that believes it wants to be rural in character and is fighting to try to hang onto that character when everything around it is pushing in the other direction," Goldberg said.

Republican Laurie Fu is currently serving the Borough Council, and Joseph Cecla Jr. has served in the past. Both candidates also believe controlling taxes and expanding services are among the most important things to focus on in the borough.

"The biggest challenge for us is to find ways to offer the services we offer and make our town appealing and attractive to residents without increasing their taxes," Fu said.
