Borough Will Deliver Mulch

Morris Plains residents can get storm leftovers

It took several months, but the silver lining has finally appeared in the clouds of last summer's and fall’s storms.

Morris Plains has a huge pile of mulch waiting for residents to use in their gardens.

The mulch is of good quality and double-shredded, according to Borough Clerk June Uhrin’s letter to residents.

Residents may help themselves to the mulch as long as they bring their own tools and collection containers. Mulch is available on a “first-come, first-served” basis as long as the pile lasts.

The Department of Public Works will deliver mulch to residents who cannot pick it up themselves,  Councilman George Coogan said at the meeting Thursday, March 15. Coogan said the DPW will deliver loads of 5 cubic yards or more. That is a mason dump truckload.

To arrange a delivery, residents may contact the DPW at 973-538-4494 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday to Friday and leave a name, address and phone number. Deliveries will be made only on Fridays.

Coogan said the last order will be taken on Friday, March 23, and the last delivery will be made on Friday, March 30. Any remaining mulch on the pile will still be available for residents to pick up.
