Cecala, Coogan to Face Mangravite for Morris Plains Council

Candidates on both sides take easy victories in uncontested primaries.

No surprise here: Incumbent Republicans Joseph Cecala Jr. and George J. Coogan will face Democrat Frank Mangravite in November's election for the Morris Plains Council.

Two seats are open on the council, meaning barring a write-in campaign, at least one will be filled by a Republican.

In Tuesday's Republican primary, Cecala took 247 votes, and Coogan took 233, according to unofficial results posted to Morris County's electoins results website. There were no write-in votes tallied in that primary. There are 1,688 registered Republicans in the borough.
