Committee Honors Snyder at Meeting

Mayor and Committee bid farewell to retiring colleague

Among the routine end-of-year actions, the Morris Township Committee said goodbye to Councilman Raymond L. Snyder at the final meeting of the year on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Snyder didn’t run for re-election after three years on the committee. In a resolution, Mayor H. Scott Rosenbush commented on Snyder’s service to the township, not just as an elected official, but his 32 years as a police officer and 35 years living in Morris.

In a resolution, the township committee said they “wish to recognize his unselfish contribution to the citizens of Morris Township through his dedication to civic Duty and for giving of his time and talent without reserve to our community.”

Roseenbush also thanked “Ray’s wife, Kathy, for sharing him with the committee.”

Deputy Mayor Bruce Sisler joked about the difference in age of the two committemen from the Fairchild section of the township, but seriously thanked him for his wisdom.

Committeeman Peter Mancuso also thanked Synder for being someone the other committeemen could turn to.

Committeeman Dan Caffrey noted he and Snyder “had an interesting relationship” in the four years they have known each other and said, “your demeanor is a grounding force for me. Many of your thoughts and ideas gave me a different perspective.”

Snyder said “I didn’t know this was going to happen.” He advised those in the audience, “there is nothing better than volunteering, nothing better than serving your community.”
