Construction Begins on Bailey Hollow Road

Drivers will be directed to follow a detour on Western Avenue from Ann Street to Mount Kimble Avenue.

Road work on Bailey Hollow Road began Tuesday, where the road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Motorists will be directed to a 3.5-mile detour on Western Avenue from Ann Street to Mount Kimble Avenue.

Officials expect the construction to be done by Labor Day with the road opened by the time the school year starts.

The road was , but was delayed until now because of the extreme weather conditions from Hurricane Irene and the October snowstorm.

Some of the reconstruction will include curving, draining and working on the roadway bed.

The construction project costs about $800,000, and $230,000 of it is covered from a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
