Cooling Centers Under Consideration in Township, Plains
Potentially dangerous heat wave developing.
Officials in both Morris Township and Morris Plains are taking a "wait and see" approach to the question of whether cooling centers will be opened in either municipality.
That doesn't mean they haven't been paying attention to reports that the in and around Morris County for several days. Officials have already decided where residents will be directed if cooling centers become necessary.
In Morris Plains, the police department said that residents would be directed to the community center on Jim Fear Drive, which has generator power and would be kept cool even in the event of a power outage.

In Morris Township, Health Administrator Kevin Breen said that residents would be directed to the Fairchild, Mt. Kemble and Collinsville firehouses.
