East Hanover Avenue Traffic Study Meeting Set for Dec. 11

Public meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Morris County Public Safety Academy in Parsippany.

The Morris County Department of Planning & Development will conduct a public meeting Dec. 11 on the county’s East Hanover Avenue Corridor Traffic Study.

The public meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Room 102 A & B at the Morris County Public Safety Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., Parsippany. Maps and plans will be on display during the public meeting, with a presentation on the report starting at 7:15 p.m. followed by a question and answer period.

The county initiated the study of East Hanover Avenue from Whippany Road to Speedwell Avenue-Route 202 to identify and coordinate roadway improvements that would alleviate the traffic impacts from proposed development along the corridor. Those include a swath of forested land at the corner of Ridgedale Avenue and East Hanover Avenue that earlier this year was razed.

The state Department of Transportation provided the funding for the consultant, Stantec, who prepared the draft report that will be presented at the public meeting.

Municipal officials from Hanover, Morris Township and Morris Plains, the
three communities within the corridor, were part of a technical committee that provided information to assist the consultant in developing the draft report.

The report can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on this link. Copies of the report also are available for viewing at the Morris County Library; the Morris Plains Borough Clerk’s Office; the Morris Township Clerk’s Office; the Hanover Township Clerk’s Office, Hanover Municipal Building 1000 Route 10, Whippany; and the Morris County Department of Planning & Development, Morristown.
