Wednesday night’s meeting of the Morris Township Committee covered a lot of ground. Here, then, are five things you need to know:

 You Need to Know That: Committeeman Bruce Sisler is in the process of editing Morris Township’s first  “E-messenger,” an electronic newsletter. It is expected to be circulated by the first week in March. If you’d like to be included on the mailing list, send an email to bsisler@morristwp.com

 You Need to Know That: OEM Coordinator Harvey Klein reported that the Heavy Rescue Squad had a successful fundraiser, selling out its long stemmed rose bouquets by late afternoon on Valentine’s Day.

You Need to Know That: Committeeman Ray Snyder attended the meeting via conference call. He suffered a serious broken ankle after a recent storm and was unable to attend in person.

You Need to Know That: Municipal consent was granted to The Hounds and Harriers and the Susan Fazio Foundation for Melanoma Research to bring their events to Morris Township once again in the fall. Hounds and Harriers will conduct a run, on October 8, 2011. The Susan Fazio Foundation for Melanoma Research will have a walk/run on September 18. Final approval is contingent on insurance certificate and approval by Police Chief Dennis Reilly and Director of Parks and Recreation, William Foelsch.

You Need to Know That: The handling of Morris Township's Low and Moderate Income Housing Program is to be shifted to an outside agency, the Housing Partnership of Morris County. The work was previously done by a township empoyee who has since retired. A significant reduction is expected in the cost of running this program.
