Five Things You Missed at the Planning Board Meeting

Honeywell plan, Subaru signs, sub-division on Van Beuren Road were discussed

On August 15, the Morris Township planning board held a meeting that covered a lot of ground Here's what you need to know:

  1. You Need To Know About The New Honeywell Plan: has scaled back the planned redevelopment of its headquarters campus, eliminating a hotel and stacked townhouses. Approximately half the October 3 meeting will be devoted to discussion of the revised plan.
  2. You Need To Know About The Proposed Subdivision on Van Beuren Road: A four-home, major subdivision has been proposed for a lot at 26 Van Beuren Road, where a single house now stands. Further discussion of the proposal will occur at the October 3 meeting.
  3. You Need To Know About The New Signs for Subaru: The Planning Board gave the okay for (in Morris Township) to put two signs and a logo on the front of its building. Three signage items are not normally allowed on the same side of a building, but it was determined that the signage was need to direct service customers toward the correct area of the lot.
  4. You Need To Know About The Unity Charter School Playground: A resolution was approved granting a variance to the to build a playground and a "rain garden."
  5. You Need To Know About The Environmental Consultant: An environmental consulting firm, EcoSciences, has been chosen who will assist the planning board in responding to the Honeywell redevelopment plan.
