Mancuso Made Morris Township Mayor Emeritus

Peter Mancuso can’t stop being mayor.

Ending his latest term as the mayor of Morris Township, Mancuso was sworn in as a member of the township committee to start 2014.

But newly minted Mayor Bruce Sisler had something else in mind beyond the committeeman’s position. Bringing his former little league coach to the front of the dais, Sisler announced that the governing body had created a title that was new for Morris Township and that was for Mayor Emeritus.

“It is a special honor,” Sisler said. “We are so honored and grateful to have him in the township and working with the township committee.”

Sisler said as a young person he remembered Mancuso as mayor and was struck by the excellent job he did back then.

“And it is my honor to serve with him now,” Sisler said.

Reading from the dedication and resolution, Sisler said that Peter Mancuso was being named Mayor Emeritus for being a tireless volunteer, giving to the community of his time, his talents and his insights.

“He has improved the quality of life in Morris Township,” Sisler said. “And we recognize the profound influence that Peter Mancuso has had in Morris Township.”

For his part, Mancuso was unusually at a loss for words, but you can hear what he has to say in the video attached to this post.
