Mayor: JCP&L Getting Closer on Repairs

Says communications between power company, Morris Township improving.

Toward the end of last month, about 2,000 Morris Township residents lost power briefly—a quick flicker compared to the outages many saw in the days following Tropical Storm Irene. Mayor Mayor H. Scott Rosenbush has released the following statement, saying JCP&L's communications with the township over ongoing work and issues are continuing to improve:

Morris Township residents experienced a momentary outage on Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the Convent Station/Woodland Avenue area from 12 to 12:03 p.m., which affected approximately 2,000 customers, due to a downed transmission wire in our East Hanover corridor. After patrolling the transmission line the cause was found to be a burnt sleeve on the wire.

I am pleased that JCP&L is working together with Morris Township to ensure better communication and service as power outages, restoration and the rebuilding of the Morristown Substation continue. We are committed to working together with JCP&L to make all of the necessary corrections for the benefit of our residents. I have been in contact with JCP&L and was told that progress is being made in restoring the Morristown substation giving more system functionality. I have also been assured that the Greystone substation circuits are back to their normal configuration.

JCP&L has said the Morristown substation is being restored in stages and the circuits from the Greystone substation that feed Bradford Estates, Butterworth, Rose Arbor and the surrounding areas have been restored to their normal configuration. It is my expectation that this will provide added system support and enhance reliability, especially in the north western part of Morris Township.

Once again, Morris Township will continue to work with JCP&L to improve communications with our residents as the company proceeds with the repairs and upgrades to its system.
