Morris Twp. Ranked Among Safest Towns in New Jersey

Morris Township is one of the 20 safest towns in all of New Jersey, according to a new evaluation.

According to a new report by security company SafeWise, which ranked all New Jersey towns with populations over 15,000 for their levels of safety, Morris Township came in at number 18 overall.

The data used by SafeWise comes from the FBI’s 2011 Crime In The U.S. report with the company’s “own comprehensive investigation,” the website said. 

Morris Township,is also the came in behind Madison and Washington Township in Morris County.

Mahwah in Bergen County, Sparta Township in Sussex County, and Warren Township in Somerset County placed in the top-3 spots, respectively.

According to Safewise, at the heart of a prosperous community lies  a Chamber of Commerce and a government that supports businesses of all sizes and that is the case with Morris Township. 

"If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner looking for a safe community that’s also pro-business, you’ve just found it," the site said. 

At Wednesday's Township Committee meeting Committeeman Jeff Grayzel thanked the members of the administration and community for making Morris Township a safe place to live and work while newly minted mayor Bruce Sisler praised the "outstanding" police force. 

"They are a big reason why we are on this list," Sisler said.
