PolitickerNJ: Christie Wants Michael Patrick Carroll To Be a Judge

could soon be Judge Michael Patrick Carroll, if Gov. Chris Christie gets his way.

The governor has filed an intent to nominate the Republican assemblyman, who serves the 25th District, to be a superior court judge, according to PolitickerNJ.

The PolitickerNJ piece notes Carroll and Christie have often sparred politically, and Carroll beat Christie during the now-governor's failed bid for an Assembly seat.

Carroll bills himself on his website as New Jersey's most conservative legislator. He's at times stood apart from his own party, often taking stands based on libertarian-style ethics where his party leaned more moderately. He was recently the .

Among the pillars of his platform, according to his site:

• Abolish unaffordable housing mandates
• Repeal every single McGreevey/Codey/Corzine Tax Increase
• Reform school aid, providing equal state funding to every child
• Repeal The Highlands Act
• Abolish all Affirmative Action programs
• Defend Second Amendment rights
• Prohibit all borrowing without voter approval
• Mandate legislative super-majorities to increase taxes

The 25th District includes  Boonton, Boonton Township, Denville, Dover, Jefferson, Mendham Township, Mine Hill, Morris Township, Morristown, Mount Arlington, Mountain Lakes, Randolph, Rockaway Borough, Rockaway Township, Roxbury, Victory Gardens and Wharton.
