See McCluskey, Karr Take Morris Plains Oath of Office

Returning council members re-up for another three years.

After winning the Nov. election all that was left for returning council members Sue McCluskey and Jason Karr was the paperwork.

And at Tuesday's reorganization meeting of the Morris Plains Borough Council that was handled swiftly as both returnees were sworn in by long-time Morris Plains Mayor Frank Druetzler.

McCluskey thanked the capacity crowd at town hall for venturing out into the cold and also thanked all of the volunteers and residents that do so much for the borough.

McCluskey also mentioned she was looking forward to the 12th annual Farmer's Market kicking off on June 14.

"It will be 80 degrees that day," McCluskey said.

McCluskey's sentiments were echoed by Karr, who began his third term in office on Tuesday. Karr also thanked his family for their support and Druetzler pointed out that the councilman's sons Matt and Nick were junior volunteer firefighters.

"They are following in the footsteps of their father serving the community," Druetzler said.

The first act of the 2014 borough council was to elect George Coogan as council president. Coogan was the only abstention in an otherwise unanimous vote.
