Steady Stream of Voters in Township

Beautiful election day, but some voters are still fed up.

Polling places in Morris Township were seeing a steady stream of voters around lunchtime Election Day—though some were “fed up with government in general," like Rebecca Reddy of District 8 who votes in the.

“Now, I feel better,” she announced as she left the polls.

Other voters had slightly more positive feelings.

“I’m pretty ignorant of politics in general,” confessed Jackie Ornstein of Washington Valley, "but this year I will vote for Jeff Grayzel." She said she attended one of the Democrats’ functions and was very imporessed.

On the other hand, a voter at the municipal building who didn’t want to give her names said, “I’m here to vote for Dan (Caffrey) and Andreas (Benvenuto). They have the heart of Morris Township, the right kind of character for our town.”

A District 16 voter who said she was “in a hurry,” stopped to mention she had received an email from Republicans denigrating Democrats early on the morning of Election Day. Other voters from the area said they had not or had not checked their emails before voting and Township Clerk Cathleen Amelio said she had heard nothing of it.

Poll worker John Suchman at District 5's polling place in the said voting opened briskly in the morning and remained steady. “It’s a little better than I expected,” he said.

Poll workers at The Seeing Eye, who have lunch provided for them and enjoy working a long day in such a nice setting, said voting was slow in the morning but steady. Their polling place tends to pick up in the afternoon.
