Twisted Steel and Pennies Created Gold
Morris Plains Students donated coins for the Morris Plains 9/11 Memorial.
Morris Plains Mayor Frank Druetzler reminded the students from Borough School and St. Virgil Academy, "A year ago, I asked each of you to donate one penny every day for one hundred days... and look what happened."
He then pointed to the twisted steel that was once a powerful support beam of the World Trade Center. However, in its rusted and grossly contorted form it had somehow become stronger than ever; a memorial "built for the community by the community.”
