Boro Board Sets Kickoff Meeting

Strategic planning is starting for Morris Plains district

The Morris Plains Board of Education is using the opportunity of a superintendent search to consider the future of the district.

The board has been discussing strategic planning for several months and is ready for a kickoff meeting of a new committee.

The meeting is scheduled for Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. in the borough school auditorium to provide information for a strategic planning weekend. The weekend will involve members of the ad hoc strategic planning committee working toward creating a vision for the future of the district.

The first order of business, according to a press release from the district will be to identify the strengths of the district as it exists today. They will then determine what goals the district needs to move forward.

The board’s vision for the committee is for it to be made up of staff, parents, students, alumni, community leaders and others from the borough in order to get a variety of ideas and thoughts for the future of the school and its students.

Morris Plains has had several interim superintendents in a row and is ready to hire a permanent school chief, the board said early in the school year.
