has a chance at winning $15,000 for the Morris Plains School District, and students have the opportunity to help make it happen.

According to the Art Petitt, the owner of the , the school is currently in the top 10 in nationwide votes out of approximately 800 schools.

In order for a school to participate in this contest, a district must be approached by a Cartridge World store. The Morris Plains School District was asked by Petitt from their local Cartridge World.

"Art came to us and inquired if we would be interested in entering the contest," said Geralyn Dilluvio, the secretary for the business administrator in the district. "They supported us with everything and got us the documents, and it was approved for us to participate."

Borough School is the only school in the area that is participating, which could benefit them by less competition. Petitt went to the school districts in Morris Plains, Parsippany and Morristown, but Morris Plains was the only one that was able to get all of their paperwork in and approved by the board on time.

The district only selected one of the two schools to participate so that all votes could be geared toward one school. Although the voting is for Borough School, the prize will be split.

"We didn't enter both of our schools because we didn't want to split the votes," said Dilluvio.

Dilluvio said the school has done a number of things to promote the contest. The school put up a large sign outside of the school, put posters around both schools, sent letters to families in the district, and also posted notices on both the school district and town Web sites.

Three winners will be selected for the $15,000 prize. The school with the most votes will automatically win, and the other two winners will be randomly selected.

Petitt said this is the first year Cartridge World is participating in a contest like this.

"It's an effort for us to get our name out in the public and to try to help the schools at the same time," he said.

Students who vote will receive a coupon to the store. Although voting ends March 31, the winners won't be announced until a month later on April 30.
