CCM Board Seeks Morris Trustees

Morris County residents encouraged to send resumes.

The County College of Morris Board of Trustees is looking for new members and inviting residents of Morris County to apply.

Applications are being collected by a special search committee appointed by the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, according to a press release sent by the county on Wednesday. Two four-year terms that are being held by freeholder-appointed trustees currently will expire at the end of October.

Anyone wishing to fill one of the seats must apply and submit a resume and statement of intentions to the committee by Sept. 6. At that point, all applications will be reviewed by the committee and recommendations will be made to the freeholders for final appointments.

In order to qualify for the CCM board, candidates must be a resident of Morris County for at least the past four years and cannot currently hold an elective office. Applicants should also be able to show "independent judgment, distinction in their profession, knowledge of higher education and a firm commitment to serving the college," according to the release.

The time commitment of a board member is between 15 and 20 hours per month and include duties such as supporting the college president, revising the college's mission, ratifying long-term plans, insuring fiscal viability, approving curricular programs and more.

Those wishing to apply should send eight copies of their resume and a brief statement explaining why he or she would like to serve to Trustee Search Committee, Office of the Morris County Counsel, County of Morris, P.O. Box 900, Morristown, NJ, 07963-0900.
