Lightning Delays Vena's Record Quest

Some Meet of Championships events delayed by severe weather.

Lightning delayed shotput star Nick Vena's attempt to become the first athlete in state history to win four Meet of Champions titles. The 

Vena competed for Morristown High School in both the discus and shot put. In the discus Vena placed 13th with a best throw of 160-feet 5-inches. He did not finish his throws in the shot put before the meet was postponed. 

The State Track and Field Championships are scheduled to resume Monday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at Old Bridge's Lombardi Field. Events to be completed include the boys and girls 3,200 and 4x400 relays, boys shot put, boys long jump, girls triple jump, and girls javelin.
