Meghan Reilly headed to University of Maryland.

Meghan Reilly of Morris Plains has been awarded a George Zeiss Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Reilly graduated from Morristown High School on Thursday and will begin undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the fall.

"I'm planning to study history," she said. "I'm not sure where it will take me, but I'm very excited. I've been waiting to go to college."

Reilly said she had to submit an essay on leadership and community service, which are among the qualities the scholarship committee seeks to foster.
