Morris School District Shuffles Principals

Morristown High School and Frelinghuysen Middle School set new stewards—temporarily.

Morristown High School now has an interim principal for the interim principal.

Frelinghuysen Middle School principal Mark Manning is stepping in for Ethel Minchello in Morristown next week as Minchello is having surgery and is expected to be out at least two months.

"Therefore, effective Dec. 9, Mark Manning, currently Principal at Frelinghuysen Middle School, will be transferred to the Interim Principal position at the high school," said Morris School District Superintendent Dr. Thomas Ficarra. "We all wish Mrs. Minchello a speedy recovery."

Ficarra said that both he and Manning will be in close communication with Minchello as she recuperates.

The transfer leaves a hole at Frelinghuysen that will be filled by David Thompson, currently Instructional Supervisor at FMS. Ficarra said he and Manning would ensure continuity of leadership through constant communication with Thompson.

"We are confident that both the high school and middle school will continue to function in a smooth and orderly fashion with these experienced administrators in place," Ficarra said.

Minchello was named interim principal as the district looks for a permanent replacement for Linda Murphy, and Ficarra said that that search continues to move forward.
