Morris Teen Recognized for Making Positive Impact

A Morris Township student was among the 2,200 selected nationwide through the Kohl's Cares Scholarship program for making a positive impact by volunteering in the community.

Kohl's announced the winners last week, and 74 of the young adults from ages 6 to 18 are from New Jersey.

Zachary Certner, of Morris Township, was one of the recipients.

Certner, 15, along with the other winners, will receive a $50 gift card and a recognition certificate from Kohl's for their community service efforts.

All of the winners qualify for a chance to win a $1,000 regional scholarship for post-secondary education. Kohl's will announce the winner in July.

Out of more than 200 regional winners, 10 national winners will receive a total of $10,000 in scholarships. Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a non-profit organization on each national winner’s behalf.

In 2012, the deparment store will award more than 2,200 young volunteers with more than $420,000 in scholarships and prizes. 

This is the 12th year Kohl's is participating in this scholarship program.
