On Guard: Morristown Fencers, Boosters, Celebrate New Season of 'Physical Chess'
Dinner, demonstration for parents help kick-off the season.
Friends of Morristown Fencing, or FOMF, the booster club for Morristown High School fencing, held its annual pre-season pasta dinner on Dec. 13. The event was attended by members of the 80-fencer squad, their parents, head coach Paulo DaSilva, and coaches John Gringeri and Jim Memory. The evening included a demonstration of the sport often called "physical chess," and featured varsity athletes wielding each of the three weapons used in fencing: foil, sabre, and epee.
