Morris Plains district will form strategic planning committee

The New Jersey School Boards Association will assist the Morris Plains Board of Education with its next step in bringing on a permanent superintendent of schools.

The board formalized its agreement with the NJSBA last week and is now setting up dates for meetings of a strategic planning committee to map out the future of the district.

An NJSBA representative will meet with the staff of both district schools on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Borough School and that evening at 7 p.m. with the board and the public, interim superintendent Dr. Ernest Palestis said. The state representative will talk about the strategic planning process and review guidelines for subcommittees, he said.

Prior to those kickoff meetings the district will begin soliciting community members to serve on the planning committee.

“Our goal is to not exclude anyone with an interest,” Palestis said. Civic groups, alumni, parents and other members of the community will be approached about serving on the committee, he said.
