Students participating in the show can participate in a contest sponsored by the Family Success Center, where they can compete for cash prizes and for the chance to have their artwork permanently displayed at Morristown's Spring Street Community Development Corporation.

The winning entries will be displayed at the center's office at the CDC launched by Bethel AME Church. The contest will accept five themes for the entries: What it Means to be a Family, Say No to Drugs, Helping Others, The Love of Learning, and Personal Pride.

Children can either create new artwork or submit a previous piece they have done at school or home. They are asked to submit the artwork with the theme title, their name, school, grade, contact information for a parent or guardian, and 1-2 sentences describing how the piece fits the theme.

The artwork will be displayed up until May 13, where voting will take place, and then later at the Family Success Center. Anyone who wishes to have their artwork returned after the contest is over is encouraged to provide a phone number so parents can be notified to pick it up after May 13.

There will be one winner selected for each theme, and each winner will receive a $50 prize. Children only can win in one category.

Also as part of the arts festival, poets and other spoken word artists are encouraged to sign up to participate in Wordplay II, beginning at 7 p.m. May 1, by contacting Morristowngreen@gmail.com, 973-944-0530.
